Not a fan of chrome and bling so I just painted stuff and made it cleaner. No need to have to spend all day polishing it when I'd rather be racing and driving it!

Now don't get me wrong I love the way the shiny stuff looks and how clean these other bays are, but for me I just don't have that desire or patience to do it. I will be powder coating a good amount of parts but I doubt you see much if any chrome or polish under the hood.

I always wondered what everything under the e-bay would look like powder coated black. That is something I would like to do with my next project car, if I ever get around to it. I think it would look pretty sharp!

Mine's kinda weird. Used to just be a short belt to bypass the A/C. Then that belt stretched out a bit too far, and so I nabbed a UPR A/C delete pulley. That worked fine for awhile, and then the bearing in the pulley crapped out. So, I wound up keeping the bracket and bolting on the idler pulley from an '04 V-6 Mustang (thanks Frankenstang ), then running a belt slightly shorter than stock. Thus, I wound up with this weirdness...

i hear ya on that. Yea that chrome looks sick but they must spend hours keeping it clean. Painting and powdercoating things looks just as good IMO

meh, i clean it for a show in about 10 minutes top to bottom, front to back, and dusting off the fan and other small details like that. Only for a judged show. Usually I just spend half the time on it and just have to wipe down minimal surface dust or something that got onto the paint (damn hood scoops). Once the entire engine is clean enough it basically stays that way.

Ask the other guys who have engines like mine. When there's no dust and grime and crap to fly around while you drive, nothing ends up anywhere. BlownFox5Oh was next to me at FFW, he could tell ya

Now the time involved to get it looking like that in the FIRST place, well, that is indescribable. Upkeep is very minimal.

I drive mine too much to keep polished stuff clean... I have about 4000 miles on it in the matter of 3-4 months... I have had polished pieces and decided it wasn't for me. Too much effort to keep it looking good in my eyes. As you nticed Dave I was racing it at FFW, and just driving in those pits alone will make the engine bay a total mess!

That and I am not as good at polishing as most, so I just prep and paint, .

I've replaced most polished stuff with chrome as of last year, so yea that does help keep cleaning time down a lot. Hazing on a polished part or two would be enough to drive you insane trying to clean it for a show when it used to be pristine. I had enough of that, especially since the open hood scoops let in all the elements.

I remember - that was where I first saw your car unveiled! But I couldn't find you anywhere!
