when you take your spout out and set your timing that is "base" timing correct...if you took your spout and and set it to 20-24* wouldnt that be hella advanced??? or am i thinking wrong about this...you would think that would make it ping more...???

It will lock your timing at the degree you set it at. W/o the spout the computer no longer controls it and therefore will not advance anymore.

and this doesnt have any downsides? Seems kinda weird running the same timing all the time...

I feel a little power loss from p/u but it's much better to run WOT w/o detonation now. A lot of blown cars do it this way to avoid blowing HG's. I have blown them everytime I use the spout since I got rid of my BTM. That is another good way to dial back timing from pinging with just a turn of the knob.

Me and my Dad are going to bring the car into the shop because nothing worked. I'll tell you guys what it was when I find out. Thanks for all the help.

So removing the spout didn't stop the ping? Is that what you are saying?

No we didn't take the spout out because we want to fix the actual thing that isn't working.
