Pinging between shifts?

When its warm outside my car tends to ping a little between shifts if I dont give it enough gas while letting the clutch out. This has never happened before but started recently. It doesnt ping at any other times. Ive been driving a manual for 18 years so I know its not me! Any ideas? Maybe the old K&N oil on the MAF thing?

Could be K&N oil on the MAF sensor, yep - I'd start there. If that doesn't provide any help, jump up to 91 octane and see if that helps.

I wonder if its the weather we have been having. My car just started doing that today too. Not real loud ping, but more like a rattle. I put my stock tune back into the PCM to see if that gets rid of the problem. We will see tomorrow.

The gas companies according to what I am told change the composition of the gas in the winter time verses the summer and you may have to go up a grade in gas to keep from pinging. Dont know the exact reason for this but I know mine started a little over 3weeks ago.
