i think that would be counter productive for a n/a motor.

i would try and fix the problem first, like clean the maf, new o2's, etc.....

what is your base timing at?

Do you have the EGR hooked up still?

Have you checked the harm. ball. to make sure it is not spun/going out.

Have you cleaned your MAF & IAT sensor?

Does it ping at part throttle, WOT or both??

it does-not ping now but if i advance it to 11 it will at PART throttle, the mass air is clean but i have not cleaned the iac but it idles fine

the pinning happens more from a load on the motor and timming at 11 or more

Do you have the EGR tube un-done?

IF so that is your issue, at part load cruise the EGR timing tables hit 40+*.

Did you reset the computer after you cleaned it?? If not, definately do so. The KAM needs to be cleared after any sensor changes are made, so the computer can start from scratch, learning the new sensor. (disconnect neg terminal from battery and hold brake pedal for 30 seconds).

Definately clean the IAT and make sure it's indexed, so air can flow through the element, not the plastic u-shaped thing that partially covers the sensor.

If it's pinging at part throttle, and resetting the KAM does not work, you likely have a O2 problem. I would take the torch to them and see if it helps. As O2's age, the actual a/f ratio gets leaner and leaner, even though the comp thinks it's fine.

The EGR could be another thing to check out. It works only at part throttle.
