Pioneer Avic-D3 Review and Pictures

Hey all, I recently installed a Pioneer Avic-D3 in my Ford with bluetooth, Sirius, iPod, and steering wheel controls. I put up a quick review with lots of pictures. While it's not a Stang, my buddy asked me to post this in here because the radios gotten so popular because of it's recent price drop and how good it looks in a Ford. Anyway, I hope you guys looking for a navigation deck find this useful. Thanks!

very nice! great write up. you have further convinced me that the AVIC D3 is the way to go. i can't wait to get one for my 05

Thanks man! There are some vehicles that it just looks "ok" in, but for whatever reason it looks sharp and very close to stock in the Ford dash clusters.

Nice install and write-up!

I recently installed the same setup in my Shelby, although I have XM and a b/u camera.

I also like the truck- Lariats are nice!

Thanks bro, I appreciate it! You're way better off with the XM, the Sirius interface on Pioneers is horrible. You should trade me that Shelby for my Lariat.

I see you used our PAC SWI-PS(I work for PAC).IM glad you figured it out.We get about 75-100 calls A DAY from so-called installers that cant wire up and programm these things.

LOL, I think it was probably easier for me as I didn't have to worry about splicing in a resister like some installs require. The PAC unit is pretty sweet. There's a slight delay but once you get used to pressing the button for an instant longer it is unnoticable.

Without the PAC being available I would not have gone with an aftermarket deck. Giving up steering wheel controls is NOT an option! Thanks for a great product!

Why did you use that Sirius setup? Couldn't you just use the SIR-PNR2 tuner to the deck?

I could have used the PNR2 but I was HOPING that the new Sirius Tuner and Pioneer SB-10 would have a better interface than the PNR2. Turned out that it's just as bad as the PNR2 was. I love the complete setup, but am still disappointed with the Sirius tuner interface. With the merger now complete I'm going to wait for XM and Sirius to mesh channels and then switch to an XM tuner which has a much better interface with the D3..

Congrats man! I just this weekend added a Rockford Fosgate P3SD210 shallow mount 10" sub with an older RF 301S 300 watt amp I had. What a difference, WOW! It can hit but what it does best is fill out the entire sound range and add some great punch to rock and country..
