Hey everyone, i'm in the process of building my engine for my 98 GT and i'm currently on the pistons. I'm not sure what to set the gap on the rings to? I am planning on installing a turbo or supercharger down the road, but for the time being it will just have the typical bolt-ons. Do I need to set the gap for the turbo or supercharger now? Or do I need to set the gap to the factory specs? I am using Manly forged pistons and rods and I will be bolting on a set of PI heads. Thanks for the help.

Gap for boost now.

Do you have the formula for gap specs?

No I do not. All I have is the gap specification for a factory set up. The cylinders were bored .020 over to 3.572 and the pistons are -18cc which will be making 9.5:1 compression with my pi heads.

You would do fine with stock gaps unless its a high boost motor....

What rings are you using.... if your goal is over 600 HP get the stainless steal.

Google: Manley piston ring gap formula.
Its a PDF document with the destructions.

I'm planning on eventually making around 500 hp.

I'm using total seal file fit rings. They are the ones that came with the pistons.

I usually put em around .025 top, .0235-.024 second.
