Okay guys... My 89GT has the strangest problem- Sometimes she starts and sometimes she don't, cuts out driving too sometimes. It also starts to hesitate very slightly the drive before the next time it doesn't crank. Starter turns the motor but no crank over. Maybe an hour, day or week later it cranks again for a day, week and hesitates and does it again. Sometimes it cuts out while idling and driving. Also, the fuel pump does come on. I'm getting 40psi fuel pressure at rails.
My Mods:
*Explorer Intake
*Cam (dunno what kind, was in there when I bought it- heads look stock and have a 'T' on them)
*MSD 6al
*Blaster Coil
*Cold air intake
*Some kind of really stiff racing clutch
*Adjustable clutch cable (at firewall)
*The rest is exhaust & gears & such
What I've done to fix this problem:
* Checked Timing- Twice at 13
* Coil- current is New Blaster, tried 2 brand new
* Distributor- New remanufactured
* Control Module- New
* Starter solonoid- New
* TPS- New
* Idle Air Bypass- New
* Alternator- New
* Fuel Pressure Guage at fuel rail- (Getting 40psi)
* Battery- New (needed anyway, not related at all)
* Put an extra Ground- From Head to swaybar mount
* Fixed some bad wires at starter solonoid
* Plugs
* Cap and Rotar Button
I'm at a total loss. If it's getting fuel, it wouldn't be that. We checked for spark using the old "screwdriver arch test on the coil wire" and that worked. All of the guages and equipment come on when key turns over. Battery seems fine. Please Help...
