I recently bought a recharge kit for my 1993 gt. (It has been converted to 134) I found the low-side connection (according to the kit, the only one that will fit the conector) Its located on the line mounted to the top of the compresor. (If I'm wrong...please let me know.) I hooked the can and gauge up while its running and it shot to the 100psi range almost immediately. According to the company it should read 45psi. Now my compressor kicks on intermittingly. Do I have the wrong connection? Is my sytem over full? Let me know if you guys have anything, so I can use this expensive a** can before it seeps out.

Car was running at the time. The gauge is reading about 65 psi with just the can. If its over full, will it keep the compressor from completely engageing? This is the first project car I've kept A/C on. Sorry if I sound a bit ignorant.

If it was 100 psi on the low side, it would vent itself from the compressor. only way it will read that high is if the clutch on the compressor is not engauging. That high of a reading means the compressor is not engauged.

Sure. If you have 100 psi of pressure, THERE IS FREON IN IT. If you didn't have freon, it would read 0. Turn the a/c on full blast, start the car... see if the front part of the compressor is turning with the pulley. This is the clutch. If it IS turning, you've got major problems cause it shoudl never read that high on the low side.

If it's not... first check the low pressure switch (which is located on the cylinder looking thing on the firewall... called the acumulator).. You can do this by checking for 12 volts on both wires to it. If you do not have 12 volts with the a/c on on both wires, the switch is bad. This will not allow the a/c compressor to turn on. Other then that is the a/c clutch relay. It is located under the air intake box. Looks like any other relay. This is known to go bad also and will not allow the compressor to turn on. Good luck, bro!
