OK dont get upset........ I need help with my 5.0....................in my lincoln it starts and runs but seems to bog down when the gas is applied in drive. Pulled the codes and got a 23 (tps out of range) and a 96 (fuel pump secondary circuit failure) any ideas? It's a 90 town car 5.0 I figured you all would know more about these motors than most others.

i'd say dont worry about that code 96. i guess it happens all the time on these cars and just means the fuel pump lost power at some point, but its nothing to worry about. tps is your throttle position sensor. it sits on top of your throttle body. just search how to set it (very easy to do with just a voltmeter and pin) on here for a full writeup. its supposed to be at .985V, or at least in that range.

22 - KOEO: check Vref voltage to battery NEG key ON, should be about 5v. if so, check Vref voltage to NEG of sensor, should be same. if not, perform voltage drop test on ground circuit. if you have 5v, check sensor voltage should be 1.59 at sea level, 1.56v at 1000 ft, subtract 0.03v for every 1000ft elevation.

was 41 KOER, or continuous?? fix 22 first.
