I love the look of our scoop but hate the fake BS part. What are your opinions about doing the shaker system? I couldn't care less if it didn't help the performance if it was at least functional. It does appear that it is less aggressive, which sucks. Not worried about getting more bang for my buck somewhere else. If it were free to you, would you go to the shaker system or stick with the applique?

If it was me I would pass, I just dont like the plastic strip that runs down the hood

Maybe if the setup could be made to work with a real Mach hood then I would think about it !

That's funny you say that...I hadn't thought about it until right after I posted this, but that plastic piece would hold water like a MF. Youd be wiping water for days after washing. I don't mind the plastic look, just want to keep it aggressive.

The stock hood scoop may be fake, but the Mach 1/Shaker system doesn't offer the least bit of performance. You're going to pay quite a bit of money for something that doesn't even give you 3HP. In my opinion, spend that money on something that'll actually give you some power.

Just be happy with what you have. The car would look stupid without the fake scoop. Real scoops have all kinds of fitment and water issues. Your money would be much better spent on a good cold air intake, that is what it is really about anyways, getting cold air into the engine in the most mechanically simple and effective way possible.

I disagree and so does Ford. I don't recall the details but they did find HP gains with the Shaker at speed.

The Shaker has no issues whatsoever. It fits like OEM 'cause it is. The seal is big and works well...I have no water getting to the engine - zero. The seal also has a drain hole and tubing to allow accumulated water to drain down to the ground.

The CDC Shaker is cheesy though - get a real Mach 1 Shaker setup and retrofit it to your 2V. Can be done with little effort.

So why not just snag a Mach 1 hood? Aren't they a functioning shaker?

Uh yeah drain lines, seals, etc are additional mechanical complexity. So there will be either issues or additional preventative maintenance to prevent issues. That is what I was saying. I was not saying that it does not fit or is in any way junk, just that it is more mechanically complex than a fake scoop. And I was also saying that for the OP there are better ways to spend his money.

I had the CDC kit and the KarKraft kit (that one used OEM Mach parts and a special bracket).

Any way the CDC kit is pretty decent quality, despite thier claims to the contrary it will fit nicely in an OEM 03/04 Mach hood. You just need the drain skirt from the Mach. My only major gripes with the 99-04 kit is it isn't as clean looking as the S197 kit. I don't like the way the airtube mounts to the airbox.

The KarKraft kit was great. If I don't ever sell it I might even throw it back on the car some day.

*EDIT* Kilgore, the shakers are easier to maintain than the fake stock scoop. You don't have to do the CPR trick to get all the water out after a wash at a car show

Seriously the drain seal, 2 secs to shine up with a meguires wet wipe. The hoses? zip tied on and not near any belts, worry free.

CDC Kit in Mach hood (not prepped to fit, just showing that it does. I have seen a prepped CDC in Mach hood and it looked great)

PM? Oh come on bro - what kind of PM do you do on your car's antenna? The scoop itself is cast aluminum with a black crinkle finish that needs no maintenance whatsoever. You do not want to try waxing it or putting armor all on it. The seal is a quality piece that should last the life of the car, and then some. The drain hose is quite large, so the chances of needing any maintenance are slim to none. I've never heard of anyone who said they did PM on their Shaker. Never.

In the end, I wouldn't spend the money to Shakerize a GT. Buy a set of LTs or a catback or something more useful.

I like the look of the CDC setup better....<shrug>...I don't like the 'hump' in the profile of the Ford Shaker hood...but I guess that's why they make more than one flavor of ice cream

(but I think I'm going to go with a Cervini Cobra R style hood)

It may offer a few ponies, but it's hardly a gain. It's ESPECIALLY not worth the money that most kits cost, and thats just the Shaker kit. You also have to worry about buying a new hood too. Just no where near being worth the money

I put the KarKraft shaker on my 2001 GT and honestly it was the best mod I ever did. I thought it looked really cool, and it was a ton of fun to hit the gas and watch it shake with the motor. 1-2 gear shifts where a lot of fun, I miss that car a lot because of the shaker it had. There was nothing negative about it, it was very easy to install and easier to maintain over the factory hood.

How can you say, "It may offer a few ponies" but in the next breath say, "but it's hardly a gain"? It's either a gain or it's not. Math is black or white (actually red, but whatever)..there is no gray in between. I never said it was a large gain. And I never said it was a cost efficient upgrade.
