Please view before posting.....NOOBIES!!

what annoys me most. is every damn person that registers posts this damn thread

HOW MUCH HP DO I HAVE? WHAT WILL I RUN IN 1/4????????

I HAVE FLOWMASTERS, UNDERDRIVE PULLEYS, NEONS, AND THATS IT
..

and i see, threads about what factory hp/tq is alot also.

which is better H or X pipe? This has got to be the most asked question I have seen over the years probably because the search doesn't allow single letter searches. Its all good and really doesn't seem like that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things...Or maybe compared to posting naked a$$ pics of your self wearing nothing but a gas mask, holding your weapon is wayyy more important than a newbie question, in tech no less. Granted I thought it was funny but come awwwwwn dude are you really one to complain??!.:rlaugh: :rlaugh:

Like the always asked, "How do I remove that foggy yellow stuff from my headlights?"

Why not just create a "Newbie Section" and move all posts like "how can I go faster?" and "should I use these gears?" into that section. It may encourage memebers to use that section more throughout the entire site. IMO though.

I don't post in here much, but this is what I have to say about the matter. True this forum does seem to be more entertaining than the rest, but I think alot of people make it that way. I can't count how many times someone is actually talking about a good topic, then some one sees where a person lives and then says" Hey, which part of ----are you from...Im from..---, we should get together sometime" Take that S__T to the PM. But it doesnt stop there...they will continue to talk about how is your car running and where they can meet up. In all actuality, the thread starters question was never answered. :bang: That pisses people off to! Once it starts getting like that..then it should be :lock: I too get tired of seeing the #1 piss off thread " What color should I paint my car"? But there are just too much other :bs: things that I think can be adressed before the noobies get attacked. And personally, why can't you type in capitals. Shouting...people act like that is a crime. Did it hurt your ears or something....Is it actually hurting you that someone typed in capitals? Supposedly it is an internet courtesy issue. Well we will see how far courtesy goes after people read this. :spot:

I'm still a newb to this site and have tried to keep redundant questions to a minimum. I also can't spell. I defend the newbs though, and I hate the fact that I can only do 1 search every 45 seconds.

Whats wrong with browsing both sites? I like to get a lot of opinions, and think its good that there enough stangers to garner 2 sites.

I dont really have an opinion about Newbs asking questions because Im more than happy to help. I do have a problem with the technical advice on this site because it sucks. There are a few of us who have or are tackling tranny drops, engine conversions, custom interiors, power adders, and suspension rebuilds, but for the most part nobody here knows anything. And it shows! Ever ask something besides gear opinions or how to adjust my TPS? You'll never get a reply because nobody has an answer and for that I head to Corral where people really have tried real projects on their cars. I dont see what is so hard about working on these cars. Buy some basic tools and start working on your car and stop asking me stupid questions like how much power you'll make. Nobody knows and most people know the answer before they even ask. Do like me and do some legwork. Go to the vendor's site and look up the specs for the part you are interested in, and if that isnt enough call them. Then shop around for the best price, but simple going off the hearsay in this site is stupid and will get you nowhere in a hurry. Thats my 2 cents. I have more but its pointless and I would go on and on.

I partially agree. I had (and still have) a question about where one of my vacuum lines runs to. I've posted about it 3 times, and NOBODY has replied. This has been going on for 2 weeks now. Surely SOMEBODY out there knows where my broken vacuum line goes to.

You guys were all "Noobies" once too, you know? How did you learn? From people who had done it before. Sure, a lot of people are too lazy or non-internet savvy to do a search, but dealing with them is part of using one of the biggest Mustang sites on the Net. If some new guy Googles "Mustang forum" guess what the number two item on the list is. Stangnet. A lot of these guys are new to the hobby and if you blow them off they might end up buying a F-body or a Neon or some other piece of crap because "the people on the Mustang boards are such stuck up jerks". Get over it.

If you want to whine about something that really is annoying, how about all the people that can't spell above a third grade level? Or USE THE CAPS LOCK KEY? Or know the difference between "there", "their" and "they're"? Or what a comma is? That's real ignorance.

Very well put......thanks

Being a newbie myself, when I first got here I read the stickies. I try not to post mundane crap, and I NORMALLY check the search first. I don't think I have ever read a single "What HP am I making post" because I think they are retarded. If you ask that question, you should have your post count set to 0 and your title set to retard. Pay the 100 bucks and use a goddamn dyno.

For the very common questions, why don't you people that have answered them 100 times make a simple tech article. Tech articles will get people coming here with more frequency, and possibly put a stop to the number of repetitive questions. Also, maybe there should be an advanced tech that requires a certain post count to even enter, or split tech into problem troubleshooting, and possible projects categories.

I agree that the same crap gets old, but I always try to be constructive instead of negative about it. Bitching goes no where, but proposing a solution can possibly fix situations.

Earned my free post

I can understand that we all get tired of the same ol questions, but what else are we going to talk about here? Forgive me for being a pain, but if a person can't come here and ask a question about a car they just got, and don't know a lot about, where are they going to go? .....the next website.....corral, etc....

If the moderators are getting sick of repeat questions shouldn't someone generate a common or frequently asked questions list or section to the boards?

sample list:
-which gears?
-which exhaust?
-5 lug conversions
-brake upgrades
-motor swaps
-HIC kits
-the AFR Vs TF etc...
-what size tires..
blah blah blah....

just my frickin lousy 2c..

... sooo, what kind of wiper fluid will give my car the best performace in the 1/4 mile? :D
The fastest 1320 wiper fluid is none at all. In a late model Fox, they hold quite a bit and it's heavy, ya know? Shaving pounds shaves tenths...

The key is to post it when the right people are on, because every night is gets busy as hell and your post gets buried quick. Log into the main forum page that tells you who'se online, look for someone like Michael Yount, and drop them a PM.

Maybe we need a sticky up top where tech info and advice is posted on these subjects.... this way noobs can just read that. At the very least the sticky could have some info in it and then have links to very good post that discuss things and contain info about the subject.

You can see what I'm talking about here in this post and use it as an example or guideline.
http://66.224.5.66/board/showthread.php?t=33724994

And remember forums are for posting and talking. New people are gonna keep coming and keep loving the stang and wanting to know what to do their stang ;)

Just get some stickies up top and you will see alot of the n00b questions stopped ;)

Good luck!

i think the repetitive questions should just be stickied...like......
Sticky: Gear Choices
Sticky: How to run 13's
Sticky: T5 swaps
Sticky: How to 300RWHP
Sticky: Shifter picks
that'd cut down on the repetitive posts
