if i just get a TB for now can it be bolted on to a stock plenum? same for a plenum can it bolted on to the stock TB? if so will i see any gains with just one part upgraded? or would it be better to get the hole thing done at the same time?

A 70mm TB will probably fit the factory plenum though the plenum really should be "ported" to smooth the transition from the 70mm TB to the 65mm plenum bore. To be honest though, the TB is not really the problem on the modular: the plenum is the worst offender. You'd be better off getting a new plenum and using the stock TB than going to a larger TB and staying with the stock plenum.
I just bolted on an Accufab plenum and 70mm TB and am very, very happy with the combo

yes, just the plenum itself will net you more SOTP gains then a TB will. Never get a bigger TB unless you are planning on swapping for an after plenum as well. I chose to go with the C&L plenum and Accufab 75mm TB. That's only because i got them cheap as fawk. goodluck

Well, I don't really trust my own SOTP meter all that much. Having said that, the car feels torquier to me, especially down low. Throttle response is definitely better. The intake noise changed to a more gutteral, low-frequency growl (the FIPK helps this). It feels like it pulls harder in 3rd & 4th at WOT on the highway. It's not a supercharger though and didn't transform the car by any means.
I hope to try to dyno it soon, maybe this weekend. If I had to venture a WAG I'd estimate perhaps 8HP and a similar torque gain. Really though, I'm interested in area under the curve on this one; I want to see if what I think are good gains down low is real or just placebo.

Hey Blockhead, can you keep me updated on how the Accufab performs and such? I was going to order that instead of my Mac CAI, but I changed my mind. It's next though. Good luck with your new purchase.
In the June 2003 issue there is an article on page 116 about this issue. with a Mac products 70mm TB and a ported upper intake plenum it flowed 530 CFM (that is 64 CFM over stock gain) and a 10 horsepower & 14.9 ft lb of torque gain which I believe is well worth it and is pretty cheap at MORGAN MOTORSPORTS (818)342-5693 you can get more info it costs 159.95 to port the plenum and a refundable 59.95 core charge
