I just want to know if this is right..My friend has an 88 5.0 all stock except the cats are removed. We raced 4 times tonight and more just playing around on empty country roads from a roll. He walks on me real bad every time, so i dont think its my shifting i shift as fast as i can at like 5500rmps. I dont get it...By about 90 mph he is proly 5 or more cars ahead of me.He can pass me off NO problem almost anywhere and i drop it down a gear and floor it. Is this normal for an 88 gt to walk all over my 95 gt with intake, flowmasters and an o/r h i thought it would be closer atleast..The only thing i could think of is my check engine light comes on sometimes but only for not even a minute at a time when im romping on it...I know it can run ALOT better because when it is cold it runs like a champ its like a totally different car but in no time like 2 or 3 minutes its a bigpower loss...im clueless

FWIW, my 88 GT VERT will romp the 94 GT by a ways, unless there are turns involved.
The 88, even when stock SD, had a mean stock tune (more radical lobe ramps provided a hair better performance vs 89+ cars, and in stock form SD is more precise than MAF).
In other words, though I hate to suggest it, I am not surprised.
My opinion.
