I have a buddy running a 306 w/alum heads, vortech, and equal length shorty headers. He has a problem with plug wires not lasting very long. I was wondering if anybody could reccomend a good set that will take the heat better.

Is he running valve cover breathers? If so, I’d venture to say the plug wires are likely getting contaminated by oil….leading to premature cracking. Going with a remote mount oil separator with a breather might be the only thing he needs to do.

Either way, my Moroso ultra 40’s have had oil on them from valve cover breathers many times….and are still holding up great. I’d venture to say they get a bit hotter than his as well.

How is he routing them? Is he using separators and keeping them from vibrating on the valve covers?

He has them seperated fine. It is just the boots that keep falling apart due to the heat and a little oil on them sometimes.

It's the oil+heat that's killing em man. Let me guess, the insulation is cracking open?
