Plugs on a 2009 GT

Have been reading that some of you have experienced some issues with the plugs
breaking off when you change them?
Is this a problem on the 2009 of has Ford fixed this?
If it is still an issue is there a fix we can do?

Ford changed out the plug and head design during the 2008 model year. The plug is now 1-piece and the problem has been eliminated as far as I've heard.

Any car made in 08 or newer will have the new head casting with the one piece plug. You can check on your drivers side valve cover there is a code that will either have an AA or AB in it. AA is two piece plug and AB is the newer one piece.

Agreed. Any 2009 will have the updated heads. Most 2008s unless built at the beginning will have the updated heads and plugs. I'd like to add that this isn't a huge problem. There are way too many "chicken littles" who scream the sky is falling. Yes, It's a bad design. Yes, it can be a problem. If you follow Ford's TSB than you should no problem removing the old style 3V plug. I've done roughly six sets of 3V plugs with no problems. :nice:

an easier and more accurate method is to go by the color of the coil boots. black are the old style, brown are the new style.
