Just to convert, I love my Pertronix Ignitor II setup. Problem is it relies on the stock distributor, so make sure it isn't worn and has the proper curve/springs.
However for a race application, or anything high performance I wouldn't even think about running a setup less than what I have now. Mallory Comp 32 S/S billet distributor with an MSD Digital 6 Plus box and a matching big Mallory coil. I get spark to 7k without a problem, and the car keeps pulling.
