Polishing tail light lens?

My tail light lenses have minor scratches that make the lense look a little foggy. Does anyone know of a product or technique that would help me polish the cratches out?

Use polishing compound, then Meguiar's Plast-X. Then use a good carnauba wax (I use Mother's) to finish off.

It's been a while but something tells me that I tried that without success. If so, maybe mine are bad enough they need the compound?

All I know is when I bought my Shelby/Cougar taillights, the lenses were not being reproduced, and the bast I could find was a set of dingy lenses with overspray on them. By using Mother's mag polish and 15 minutes of my time, I had one of them looking like a brand-new lens. I had originally bought some Novus plastic polish, since I'd used it before with some success, but even it didn't do nearly as good a job as the Mother's.

Wow, well hopefully the Meguirs will show better results. I just bought the polish today and will probably hit the lenses on Fri. I'll let you know how it goes.

Brasso also works well. I put a nasty gouge in my cell phone's screen and was able to take the scratch out with Brasso. For a finer result, you can use Silvero. It is a little less abrasive.

I've never used it on plastic, but I do know ordinary tooth paste is also good for taking scuffs out of stuff. Plus, no cavities!

No personal experience with their plastic cleaning products, but 3M makes various automotive plastic cleaners - polishes - compounds and restoration systems.

if you treat it like paint (wet sand and polish ) it works great. i do this alot for headlights, for example my old mans toyota headlights looked like diffuser lenses. it wetsanded with 1500grit sandpaper till it stopped coming out yellow and turned white, then machine polished with meguires #9, and they looked close to new when done.(ps dont let the polishing compound go dry keep it wet and cool)
