i need new tires and an alignment soon, and i cant decide if i should get ponies or cobra r's (17x9's). i want to go 5 lug in the future, becasue i want my car to auto x and stuff well, so i figured it would be pointless to rock a 5 lug style wheel for only a year or so. the thing is is that my parents probably wont let me use ebay for ponies, and cobra r's are only like 560 bucks for 4 with lugnuts on 5.0 resto. my manager at work said that he would bid and do the technical stuff for me and i would just have to pay him the money back if i got some off ebay, so what do you think about that? i cant decide. my car is a piece on the outside and paint is on the way but incase it helps here it is

thanks again :SNSign:

edit: paint that ima get is going to be titanium frost silver

Too many mustangs run cobra r's. Try a company called Mavromont Industries. They make a 17x8 pony r wheel in chrome or silver finish. Looks just like stock but in a 17" size.

www.brothersperformance.com has silver 5 lugs for $120 each with $75 shipping anywhere in the US. Thats where I got mine. You have to be careful with Ebay, wierd offsets, colors etc. I researched this over a period of months before I spent the cash. Tough to beat their price on these, can't say that for the rest of their parts but the wheels are a good deal. Good luck, and glad to see someone your age into the real kind of racing...the ones with curves and cones

But the 16x7s look weak compared to the 17x8 Pony R's. And someone posted earlier they are now offering bigger sizes too. Throw some 245/17/40s on them and your car will look a 100xs better.

So you're looking to buy new 4-lug Pony or Cobra R wheels and next year will be converting to 5-lug? I might've misunderstood but if that's the case I'd stick with the turbines and start saving for the swap. FYI, GTR HiPo has machined 4-lug 03 Cobra wheels for I believe $519. Those would look pretty good.

I love the ponies if they are chrome but I think you should still go with the cobra R.

I've been seriously thinking of getting some 17x8 and 17x9 Pony R's for my stang.....I just love the look....plus they're way wider.
