ya when examined the lower intake i foung nobs in a couple channels about a little over a quarter inch protruding. There was also ridges on at least three of roofs of the channels and on one of the channels up front there is major obstuction on the drivers side front port three inches in. Tha match up of ports to the heads is what really surprised me , the intake exit ports going into the heads was under sized by an eighth of an inch all the way around...besides the entire walls of the port channels of the intake were too coarse...i would say just taking care of the lower intake will add 20 horse power....as for the heads oh man that is another story..I mean i wake up at three in the mornihg wanting to go out to the shop and start up the compressor to start grinding..the ports going into the headers are like a quarter inch all the way around to small..and then on examination the bbk long tube headers are all obstructed by lazy weld globs ,which if I don't take care of will delete much of my work..ya i'm gonna port the headers too....havent removed the valves yet to check the bowls did thumper take any thing off the face of the heads like around the valves ..I don't know. I have to research that more before I touch them

Before I sent my heads to thumper I had onetime done a 1/2 arss grind/polish on the cumbustion chamber. I did not remove the valves to look at the area in there close after I got them back from Thumper, but you can tell there was bowl work/blending done. That is a key area were the port flows into the valve from what I have heard, that can make or kill a heads flow.

#1 has one about the same, but virtually ALL the runners need some work for best flow and balancing.
