I just ported my lower. I hogged all the holes out 1.5mm on all sides with a dremel and their router attachment. Then I tried to straighten out the curves as best I could without filing through the aluminum, then I sanded it and polished it out. It looks pretty tight. Put it back on and had some initial problems. First, my dumbass somehow crossed the #3 plug wire with the #7 plug wire. I think it was when I was taking it out and had to remove those wires for a little extra clearance. Got that fixed, then readjusted the timing and she runs like a top. I noticed a little more on the lower end of the tach and it pulls much better all the way to 6k it seems. Before it really petered out at 5100 or so... I'm going to do the same to the upper in a month or two after I get the urge to mod the car some more. I feel I did a good job. I'm going to the track to shoot for the imfamous 8's tommorow. Wish me luck... How much do you guys think I picked up?

I was going to try and do that to an extra cobra I have here. Got any pics of the intake before you put it back on?

I did my stock lower intake and heads and with the crane 2031, underdrives, long tube headers, offroad x, and magnaflow catback I dynoed 242rwhp 310rwtq.

A friend dynoed his '91 5.0 with e303, underdrives, shorty headers, offroad H, and flowmaster catback and got 211rwhp 275rwtq.

So say 31rwhp 35rwtq gain between the long tubes, 2031 vs e303, and ported heads and intake. Maybe that will give you a rough idea of what you've gained.

I have since moved on to a Cobra intake with self ported lower, and I'm looking to pick up a set of GT40 heads to try my hand at porting them.

My guess would be a peak gain of around 12-14, but I'm sure you got picked up a nice gain over the entire usable rpm range, which is more important. Got pics?

like scott said, the important thing is that you have more power throughout the RPMs.

if you dyno'd it before and after i think on a stock setup like you have going, your prolly going to see under 10hp IMO.

I have a stock setup? basically the only thing untouched on the engine is the heads... I wish I had pics, but I didn't think to take pictures and I don't have a digital cameral. It's nice and shiny inside though!! and a bit bigger, I'm going to track to see if it really worked... I made 215rwhp before, or a gain of about 15% over stock. I hope to gain another 5%... I'm prolly going to get it dynoed before I do anything else major so I'll post before and after stats on that. Hopefully tonight I can beat my 9.054 run. It's a lot cooler (88*) than the last time and it's overcast. So I should be running a bit better... I'll keep you guys posted.
