In theory, no. There is less restriction on the air flow from the air filter to the engine, which means you should actually gain power, and get better gas mileage.

I just recently bought a Cold Air Intake off eBay...not here yet but I will be installing it soon. As PonyJoe said, you should actually gain HP and gas mileage.

Although which CAI kit did you buy? The one I am purchasing includes the K&N Air Filter.

u do get some power, but not as much as u think. at least, not as much as they say they do. i was gonna get a CAI, but i got a k&n filter & removed the air silencer instead. my throttle response is better and my gas mileage has defintely noticeably improved.

You are right that there is a difference just from installing a K&N and removing the silencer, but I will say that I noticed a SIGNIFICANT butt-dyno improvement especially @ the 1-2 shift when switching from KN and no silencer to BBK CAI.
