I had the 76 outside today so I could have plenty of light to finish mocking things up and so on (I need more time to spend on the car) when it grabbed the attention of a man driving past.

He turned around, pulled in, and told me he had a 76 2.3 Liter Cobra II with the white and blue paint scheme also. Long story short he found out I love my II and told me he may have to sell his after the first of the year so his wife will let him get a new stang. He bought this car as a graduation present to himself new from the dealership, drove it for 5 years then got another new car for himself as a college graduation present.

he says since then he has driven it once or twice a month at most, it still has the original paint, he has ALL the original documentation including the window sticker and the interior is nearly mint. He says the car has one crack in the dash pad and the driver seat is torn in two places. he says it still has the parking sticker from his senior year at Texas Tech. He says it has the original engine and is starting to burn oil when it starts (valve seals from what he described).

He says he will ask $1000 for it if he can't get his wife to let him keep it and get a new stang as long as the buyer is someone who will take care of it and drive it. He also says he may keep it rather than buy the new car. I am supposed to go see the car next week if I can work my schedule around it. I will buy this car if he decides to sell it, and will attempt to maintain the originality of the car.

A bit of an understatement Sounds like a VERY good buy to me.
I paid more than that for my 77 Cobra II V8 that's had 2 previous owners and at least three repaints, has no extra documentation, doesn't run (yet), and needs/needed a gastank, hatch, rear bumper, pass. side dash bezel, tires, seatskins, bodywork, dashpad, some wiring and bodywork...and it doesn't have the original carb/intake, rims, side louvres, door emblems, or grill emblem.

Even if you're south of the border, I paid more than that even with the exchange rate, too
