Possible T-5 hydraulic clutch option... Nissan sourced

I was poking around at work and realized that some earlier model 300ZXs used a T-5 for the turbo equipped cars. Now.. they also use a hydraulic clutch set up with EXTREMELY cheap new parts (we're talking like 13 for a slave cylinder and like 18 for a m/c).

They had wc options for the tranny as well, however.. I haven't had time to look under my 91 or find a pic of a 300zx to see if the slave cylinder may mount on a mustang t-5. Anyone have a pic of the clutch fork area of either?

This has all the measurements for the bracket he made and where he sourced the parts. Let us know how you make out. I am looking to add a hydraulic clutch on my '66 this coming winter.

I have the latest version of Pro and it updates automatically. That link locks up Firefox and Adobe solid.

It's a link I got from another thread on here a while back. Either no one else looked at it, or no one else had issues with the link.
I'm not much of a computer nerd. I just use explorer...whatever, and I think version 5 of adobe reader.
Sorry it doesn't work for you. It's a well done layout with dimensions for the brackets and even where he bought the parts. The only thing I didn't like was the short hard line he used with no support to the slave cylinder. But that is pretty petty to be honest.
Maybe someone else who is more computer literate can help you out.

OK. I used IE and it opened....funny thing is I already have that PDF saved on my hard drive so I wonder why it would not open through Firefox.

That's the bracket exactly... I'll check at work tomorrow and see how the 300zx slave cylinder lines up. If it does... theoretically all one would need is the bracket, off the shelf slave and master cylinders, and some line and you got yourself a hydraulic clutch.

Forgive me, but theoretically if the 300zx m/c had enough fluid flow (force) for it's t-5, it should be enough for a mustang t-5 as well correct, as long as the piston travel is the same?

You will need a couple of more measurements

It will also depend on the mechanical leverage at the pedal, so you will want to measure the distance from the pivot point of the pedal arm, to the pedal, and also from the pivot point to the MC pushrod. This will give you the mechanical advantage ratio.
Next you'll want to know the MC piston bore diameter as compared to the slave cylinder bore diameter. This will give you the hydraulic advantage ratio.
Most likely the 300ZX did not have a heavy spring rate for the pressure plate so travel maybe shorter.
For this reason you will want to know the stroke of the master cylinder as well as the slave cylinder.
Something else (rather trivial) is if the fittings are metric or SAE.

I'm amazed that any Japanese parts are cheap like that. Great find! I hope it works. I'd certainly spend the money to try setting one up.

This is the same exact set p I am running in my Cobra with a T-5. Smooth as butter! I got the slave T-5 kit from JMC motorsports, and bought the rest from CNC & Longacre. It feels like a Toyota when I shift, and I am running a Motorsports King Cobra clutch as well. No problems on the street or track, where I have beaten the car very hard.

I reccommmend this set-up highly.

No body offeres a single kit for our classic stangs for a hydraulic clutch. The T-5 Kit & Longacre kit noted in "Runts" post for the parts is correct, but the pedal end is always a custom deal. Put on your thinking cap!

Not true, JMC makes a bolt in kit based on lightly modified CNC Brakes parts, for $350. It has a great reputation as well. I'm intrigued by the 300ZX parts idea though (especially considering I have an 85 Turbo sitting the the driveway)
