Possibly buying a '94 5.0 with 186K ...

Check the harmonic balancer.....

Just for your own knowledge, if its a great price, u can always buy a explorer motor for ~5-600 with about 60-80k on the clock. Will give a good boost in power and is basically a direct swap minus a few issues.

That's too much, in my opinion bro. Mine had 82K when I bought it for $5K...

For $3K it wouldn't be bad.

No motor how it's been driven, 186K is a ton of mileage.

I'd keep looking. They are out there for cheap.

PS

I see your in PA...don't know how much you want to spend, but I know a guy selling a mint, 46K mile 4.6L GT which dyno'd at 247 RWHP for $8K. It's quick and REAL clean.

If the body and interior are in EXCELLENT shape, I say go for it. Stock 94-95 complete motors go for VERY cheap. I even remember a guy a while back selling a 80k mile 95 cobra complete motor on ebay and it went pretty cheap, considering it was a cobra motor.

I'm only looking to spend $3,500 to $4000 ($4000 tops).
Thanks for all your help. I'll pass on this and maybe I can find something at Carlisle in June.

Seriously, that's too much $$

I paid $1,650 for this car last Jan. (1995 Mustang GTS) All it needed was a clutch, so I put in a Centerforce clutch myself for $200. 240,000 original miles, the car ran/drove perfect, and looked perfect EVERYWHERE. Inside, outside & underbody.

Check out those doorjams....... They were PERFECT.

Put 4K miles on it and sold it for $3,500 :D

Like someone above mentioned, check for harmonic balancer. Ask the seller if they've had to replace the belt recently, check the belt for abnormal wear and tear around the edges, and listen/feel carefully for abnormal vibrations.

I bought mine for a grand , 95 GT with aode and a broken odometer at 149,000. It is a great car, had it since 03-05. No probs.
I did put in synthetic everything. It also has 4.10's
But then again, for a grand, I could put in a rebuilt tranny or engine.

I payed 6500 for mine in 04 with 72,000 on the clock

and I went to diablostangs house to buy his cam, he has massive amounts of parts, and some nice stangs in the back, it would make most of us on here jealous.

haha :D Yeah, tryin to liquidate some of those parts & cars. So much I don't have room for it all.

Let me know when you get that car fixt up, we need to meet back up cruise whenever our cars are both back on the road :nice: I finished the Cobra transmission swap, so I'm welding up my black cars engine bay this week, and finishing up the interior wiring. Can't wait to get it back on the road, I miss driving it.
