What do you think about the 05's power and aerodynamics? I believe that the 300hp rating is actually wheel hp simply because Ford has been underrating the hp. I also know that with the new technology 3 valve heads and varible cam timing, it is using technology that Honda uses to make those 120hp 4 cyl cars generate 240hp! With that in mind its not hard to believe that the 05 GT is actually generating around 320 or 330hp at the flywheel depending on drivetrain loss that would equal the 300rwhp. As for aerodynamics, I know Ford has put it into wind tunnels to make sure that the 05 looks like they wanted it too without sacreficeing aerdynamics.

I might agree with you on the power, I think they might be a tad underrated, just because of the new technology. Aerodynamics on the other hand...well I really doubt Ford cared all that much. The car looks like a brick, and ford knows that no owner can legally take the car to speeds that aero will play a huge part. Race cars will be different and will likely have modifications (obviously).

Thats true... I however have speed tested my 2000 Mustang GT auto once and let off the gas at 145mph because I went into the curve and the first lap was enough for me to know that nearly 150mph is more than enough and I was surprised as to how well she handled going that fast.

That technology is only a fraction of Honda's VTEC. There's no valve lift adjustment going on and since it's SOHC, you're phasing the valve timing as a whole. Having a DOHC setup and phasing one or both cams now gives you the abilty to change valve overlap.

Either way, it's definately a step in the right direction.
