Power antenna...

one thing to watch for is that many of the aftermarket power antennas have too small of a mount for the hole size in the fender, check your size and compare the antenna base and the bracket which goes beneath the fender on the antenna. i recently bought one from a mustang supplier who assured me it would not be a problem for fitting. He said he had one on his car with no problems. However when we started to install it, the antenna assy. would simply pass thru the hole in the fender. Custom Auto Sound makes two varieties, one has a larger retainer base which will work well on the Mustang fender

I did all this a while back. I got a used one from a a pick-a-part for $10.
It was a GM (all the ford ones were bent/broken) I adapted it with parts from my original. I cant remember the hole diameter, but I'm thinkin 1" to 1 1/4"

That antenna from Whitney is a good price. I installed a black power antenna from Crutchfield in my '70. It was easy and fit great and had a lot of different pieces to fit different cars but it was a bit more expensive.

IIRC an early 90's olds cutlass seirra. Make sure you get the relay with it. I didn't even think about the relay when I got the antenna out, but i was able to rig up something I had.
I took the whole thing apart, cleaned and lubed it, put it back together and tested it. The antenna lead was long enough, and I fastened the motor assy at the bottom with a screw into the lip that sticks out just below the cowl.
It's been working great

Sounds good...was the relay next to the antenna or somewhere under the dash? How was access to do the installation? Any pitfalls I should be aware of? Thanks.

I don't know where the relay is. As I said, I didn't think of it.
I removed the inner fender rear splash guard to get into that area.
If you are not a "junk yard tech" kind of guy, Summit has a kit by Schoche that has a lot of adapters.

Oh I can navigate my way around a junk yard. Nearly all my rides are Ol' Skool and I'm always looking for parts to use. This is why I was looking into OEM power antennas instead of the aftermarket cheap ones. Looks like I might make a junkyard run on the day after Thanksgiving. Thanks again.

I used the generic cheapo power antenna from the local autozone in my 72 for the past couple years alright. I had to do light fabircation of the brackets and the antenna bezel. Took about 30 min. total to fabricate & install. I'll try & grab picts tommorrow if my digital camera works.

I was able to fit an '80s T-brid power antenna in the stock location under the fender of m '70 Mach 1. It's a tight fit and the antenna has to be "clocked" just right, but it works well and I was able to use the stock fender base plate so it looks OE.
