Power drops off around 5500 RPM then dies

Car revs to 5500 rpm's or so, then totally drops off quick, then backfires-1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc...

any ideas?

possible valve float, timing issue, lack of fuel. it really could be a number of things

How is the car tuned? You seem to be running a pretty healthy vortech system? Whats done to the fuel and ignition systems? we need a little more info to help you out.

it's SCT tuned. It's only to the 5000-5500-RPM range when it totally drops off. maybe it is fuel? I have 42lb injectors. What hp are they usually good to? also 11 psi.

You got it covered with the 42's how much pressure, timing ect.
