hi i have a 1966 mustang v8 5speed with z bar try y headers and would like power steering. or rack and pinion what do you guys think and do you know if one will fit?

thanks

In my opinion the factory power steering is horrible. I don't have any experience with the rack and pinion setups, other than they are really expensive. Look into a Borgeson integrated power steering box. Sweet modern setup that bolts right up. I built a DIY junkyard version that was around 200 dollars and works great! Here is the link http://forums.vintage-mustang.com/m...-integrated-power-steering-write-up-pics.html
Talked to the guys @ Borgeson and they said it would fit but i need to get there z bar. It looks better. the systom is about $800.00 with out the pump. he will send me a book and more info on it.. thanks for your info it helps

Yeah, the hoses will interfere with the factory zbar from what I hear. I run the cable set up for my clutch. I used the stock mustang pump and it works just fine. If you get the box from Borgeson, you can build your own hoses for a LOT cheaper than they sell them. Find a used stock pump that will bolt right up and you should be good to go. Good Luck.
