power steering fluid color?

my power steering fluid looks brown and muddy. is that normal or do i need to flush it and put new fluid in?

When I had mine flushed the new color was red like ATF. Prior to that it looked just like you described-brown and muddy.

is there like a drain plug on the pump? or do you need to crawl under your car and disconnect it from the steering rack? mine's the same color btw

A friend of mine runs a 10 min oil change place, so I had them completely flush the system until the fluid was no longer brown. They stuck a 2-pronged probe into the PS filler neck. One probe added fresh fluid and the other probe sucked out the old stuff. The engine was running and it took like 5-10 mins.

I would change it. Mine was like that color and changed it to fresh and it was the color out of the bottle (red).
