Lost new-b question.
I have a '69 Coupe: 2 barrel 302 V8 w/AC. The power steering has been leaking for some time and I decided to finally do something about it. I got some hoses from the local parts store and replaced the old ones that were going bad. I changed 2 coming out of the PS control valve going into the slave cylinder. I also replaced the PS pump because I figured that after all the abuse it had taken it would fail soon anyway. Hooked everything back up, filled the pump and cranked the engine. I let it run for a bit to get everything warm and then I started to turn the wheel because the Chilton guide said that was how I was supposed to bleed the system (run engine, turn wheel all the way to left/right 4-5 times until all air is out). When I began to turn the wheel all he!! broke loose, the wheel turned itself left and right until i was able to turn the engine off. I thought that maybe I had connected the hoses into the cylinder the wrong way so I reversed them out and tried again. This time horrible belt squealing as soon as the engine cranked. Any suggestions for this dilemma? Do I need to get a new control valve or cylinder (or both)? I'm hoping it's something simple...like I'm a retard...I can live with that, it's cheaper.
