power steering problems

Somebody give me some advice. I just put my power steering belt on today for the first time. Everything in the steering is new and the control valve and ram have been rebuilt by a reputable establishment. I started putting fluid in it and the steering freaks out. After you crank it up, if you pull the wheel to the right , it goes left to the lock and then bounces back and forth violently. I don't know if its just air stuck or what. When I steer it back and forth the reservoir level drops and comes back up. Please help me!

I would really like to hear the remedy to this problem as my 68 does the same thing allthough nothing has been replaced in mine. I haven't really had a chance to look at it as of yet, but the list is getting smaller and its getting closer to the top.

It is definitely the lines between the p.s. ram and the control valve and they are the same size and part number. I know; I did this and almost broke my arm. These are the two short lines, not the ones from the pump...simple fix, live and learn.

the lines between the control valve and the ram are the same, its easy to check if they are right, the top connection on the control valve goes to the top fitting on the ram, and the lower fitting on the control valve goes to the lower fitting on the ram, both hoses are the same size and length..

If your getting the steering wheel dance, then swap the lines on the
control valve or ram and it will quit.
