The center of the shaft is threaded for a bolt, you need to find a bolt that size (not sure what size it is, my reman pump came with one) and then get a nut and washer to push the pulley back on. Did that make any sense?
asha is right on. additionally you can get a new pulley at Napa, etc (i know someone mentioned napa, and i think they got an overdrive pulley to help the anemic pump). it was cheap - i wish i had known when i did mine. it was a real pain to get back on (i did not "feel" good about the way it went on).
over time, the hub can deform and gets galled, etc, making them a real chore.
nah man, mine isn't threaded in the center shaft. It's got like a hex shape in there. otherwise I wouldn't be having any problems. I dunno, it's wierd. I think it's because I have a '94, they have wierd **** for the accessories. I think the power steering pump is like the one on the thunderbirds.
i also have the hex deal, as i recall. but i think below that is some threads. try to look in there. and sorry if i am wrong, it is just that your comment about the hex sounds familiar, but i know i threaded mine on, so i thought i would mention it.....
yeah, the nearest autozone is at least 50 miles one way. I'm just gonna go to the local hardware store and get a few different length bolts and a good size washer, spend about 2 bucks or whatever. what gets me is how do I keep the pump from spinning when I press in the pulley with the nut? should I moly the bolt or what?
i used the air wrench. blapped it (once it was threaded on a bit), and put on mechanics gloves and held on. i bet a vice or something like that could help.
