I have a 97 mustang GT 4.6 v8 and was just wondering if it'll hurt the engine, or put air in the ps system, by checking the fluid levels while its running?

I also was wondering what the oil filter is attached too? My leak is somewhere inbetween there and the ps pump?

Oil filter is attached to the block... No it won't put air in the PS system to check it while its running. But if you're saying that you have air in the system, you want to bleed it while the vehicle is off.

Cool thanks, I narrowed my leak down to whatever's between the engine block and my oil filter, pretty sure its just a gasket I need to replace

So the oil filter doesn't screw onto the block, there is an intermediate part that bolts to the block, its not an oil cooler and the most anterior bolts is where my leak is. So just need to kno the name of intermediate part to get a new gasket .
