Is a Fox power steering rack supposed to be very light and numb? I have 245's on all four wheels and I'm able to turn them without any real effort. That's nice for a Cadillac, but it's very numb to the road.

Is there something on my ps pump can I tweak to get a sporty steering feel without switching to a manual rack?

I did some looking around with swapping that rack, but no one's said why they use it? Is it a higher ratio?

Sounds like others recommended cutting the pressure relief spring in the pump.

I put a rack from a '00 GT in my fox before, it has the same ratio as a fox, but the steering is a little firmer and has a better "straight line" feel; because it has a better torsion bar (i think). I found I had a little more confidence in the rain while driving on the highway too.

I simultaneously did the spring cut, but the fitting that the spring is in kept leaking. So I replaced the pump again and left the spring alone... I really didnt feel too too much difference between the two. I'm afraid to put the cut spring back in because I'm afraid the damn pump might leak again.

You can also try the 3.8 pulley swap, it's larger and should "underdrive" the PS pump. With that and/or the spring cut might give you what you want for cheap.

Yes, the feel of the SN95 rack is much different. I had an '03 GT and LOVED the steering feel on that thing. When i got my 5.0 LX up and running after trading it in, the steering feels like i'm driving a city bus around. Way too light.

The 03/04 cobra rack offers even better feel than the standard SN95 rack.
