I have a 1967 Coupe with a 289. It is in dire need of power steering. Are there complete kits available and if so how much money are we talking? I would like to spend as little as possible without compromising quality. Also, I'm mechanically challenged, but I am learning. Is installing a power steering system something I could do, or will I need to let a certified mechanic do that? Any advice would be helpful.

its simple on old stangs. youd need new center drag link, power steering control valve, power steering ram, power steering pump, 4 fluid lines, and I think that should get it. That should run about $500, but its easy to do.

True. To do it right, he will need to remove the pittman arm, so that the steering gear box can be removed because the gear ratio on a manual is different than a PS.

Plus, a case and a half of Type F as the PS units invariably leak--some just a little, some a lot, but most leak.
