They must be high, $400!? The local yards here charge $40.

Eh, sometimes people just don't know what market value for stuff is.

I saw someone on CL the other day selling a STOCK 5.0 intake manifold for $150 FIRM!

crazy. 50resto sells a brand new LX rear bumper cover made from OEM Ford tooling with "mustang" embossed in it for $260, GT's are the same price.. used cover should be 1/2 that if it's in really good shape.

I found that those big Mustang-specific salvage places like Prestige and MPS ask way too much for their stuff, and they are nothing more than any other redneck junk yard. Customer service kind of sucks, too. When I was looking for a factory original radio for my 86, MPS was asking $100 for one. Yea, right. I found one in a local JY for 15 bones.

sad thing is, that place is right up the street from me...but after calling them a few times and getting a feel for how insanely laughable their prices were, I have never even visited their shop.

One time I called for a price on the bracket (bracket only) that holds the mass air meter to the fenderwell. He gave me some crazy nearly 100 dollar figure and I actually laughed on the phone with him thinking he was just playing only to find out he was (ignorantly) serious

I asked him if it was plated in 14k gold

a visit to the junkyard and 4 dollars later I had one in my hand

Had a mechanic tell me a door lock actuator was $275.89. He even said " ya this thing must be plated in gold or something". I went and got my car back the same day. I found the same actuator in a mag for $44.99.

Some places take their mark-up a little too far
