well scratch this post boys, i just got off the phone with chris from mass air efi, a local professional mass air systems distributer in ma. he told me that there was no way that my mass air could be f-ing my cars idle up. gotta look else where- vacuum leak?

I suspect your issue is elsewhere, but for him to say your mass air can't affect your idle, I'd call BS on him. It may not cause it to hang in the 1400RPM range, but mine idled like it had a cam before I replaced my MAF. It wasn't reading correctly, so the idle was all over the place.

I think he needs to reconsider his career line if he says a maf can't mess up an idle. A bad maf will wreak havoc with the entire rpm band. I'd pull the codes, hook up a vacuum gauge (this is usually the more typical cause of an unsteady idle), also test your TPS (throttle position sensor) and IAC (Idle air control) valve. If you don't have a Hayne's manual, get one. It tells you how to do all these tests.

A bad stock meter was causing my car to idle poorly and buck. I changed to a Pro-M and haven't had any further probs. That was two years ago.

Also when did you get the Pro-M. I've heard prior to their closing some badly calibrated meters were made/sold.
