i started swapping my stock plugs for the ngktr6s today and noticed that the threads on the ngks are twice as long as the stock plugs...also, my stock plugs dont look good for 18700 miles, pretty big gap, the tip was pretty worn and there was motor oil on the threads when i pulled them...im mostly concerned about the oil...is this bad..... other than that the porcelin only has a slightly brownish tint to it making me think my car has been running lean....any input would be appreciated

I have the tr6 plugs in mine never noticed the difference in thread to be honest hopefully they were not mixed boxed. If you do not have the pump and mass air meter and injectors in and a good tune yea you will run lean thats a given hopefully you do not beat on the car. Plugs often have some oil on the threads its not uncommon.

I'm running tr6's in my car they will work in your car. I see that you have the jlt cai in your car plus the pulley I dont remember if you got your car retuned after your mods if you did'nt it's running lean.

Good luck..

100 bucks you are lean if you pullied down and have not re-tuned. The oil is not a big deal. Are they all consistent? How bout a couple of pics?

Am i nuts guys but it makes no sence to have a nice 40k plus saleen make mods and not take care of the engine via a tune. Put the right parts on the car will run so much better and it will be safer.

i know its blurry...but it can be seen the threading on the left plug is shorter than the right, the left being stock and right the new ngktr6s

I started the same thread a few months back when I was swapping out my stock plugs for the tr6's. I went ahead and installed them and haven't had any probelms since. I have done a few hard dyno pulls since without any issues. Here is the thread http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=644856
