I am interested in replacing my gauges to the Mustang White Face Reverse Glow Gauges (99-04 GT). My problem occured when i try to remove the light switch. It should have came out easily, but i have a feeling it was super glued on. Assuming that it was super glued on, how else can i remove it?

Saw it off? assuming that this is the only option, is the light switch rod replaceable? I did find a vendor who sell the light switch with the rod in tack. I am guessing this would be my last resort right?

Are you referring to the headlight knob itself? If so, refer to this post from about a week ago, it might help...

Yep, I ended up using a bent nail like the one below and a pair of vise grips to prevent the nail from turning.

I have tried everything. Bent nails, tiny screw drivers and whatsoever. That thing is locked dead on the light switch post. I am beginning to think that my cousin had super glue that thing a while back!

I was wondering, if i saw off the light switch with a dremel and then replace the light witch with the metal post will that be possible at all? I guess what I am trying to say is if i saw it off, will i be able to replace the metal light post and the plastic switch cover without replacing the whole entire lighting system?

I have checked the linked provided and i have also looked at it previously. It just isnt working for me even after I did exactly what was described. Please help. Thank you all!

if you're intend on cutting...DON'T cut the shaft, just cut the plastic knob part...that way all you have to replace is the knob

(I suppose a cut along the knobs long axis would allow you to spread it apart and free it from the shaft)

but something is very, very wrong if the knob won't come off when you 'lift' the metal tab in the knob's slot

Gosh darn it! My cousin had superglue the plastic piece to the shaft!

Is there a way to replace the shaft as well than? Since he glued the shaft to the plastic piece on the light switch, wont that mean the metal hinge in the plastic piece is permanently glued to the shaft as well? Is there a way to replace both at this point without replacing the whole entire lighting system?

the metal "hinge" is part of the plastic part...the shaft is just a smooth shaft...

worst case, break up the knob with some vice grips or channel locks or something, then lightly sand the shaft to remove any left-over glue bits

the headlight switch is replaceable separately, it just plugs into the harness
