Just bought a Diablo Sport tuner for a 02 GT tried to install the tune and when it was reading the stock tune it told me that it could not back it up because of something in the computer saying that it already had a tune or something. Is there anyway to force it because really the stock tune will never be used again and is totally unneeded we just want to install their tune but the stupid thing won't let us!!

Any idea what is up or what i can do?

Well if your car allready has a tune on it, then no, it wont work.

Whatever tune is on your car needs to be removed so it is ONLY the stock tune, then you can use the Predator. It wont pull a modified tune thinking its the stock tune... it will only pull the stock tune before it does squat, to my knowlege.

did you buy it tuned, or did you previously tune it? if you stillhave the old programmer then put it to stock. otherwise take it to the dealer with 2 keys.

If you dont have the tuner, try and get ahold of the previous owner and see what was done... where, and how. If he has a handheld tuner he should have definatly sent that with the car.

Its my friends car and theres no way of getting ahold of the previous owner to find out about that, we don't have the orignal tuner or whatever the guy did to the ecu that had it before. He just bought the diablosport tuner today because he wanted to open it up and now ran into this problem.

Will having it reflashed to stock work at the dealership and then diablo sport would work?

The dealership that he got it from really didn't know much about the car, it has pullies, o/r x-pipe, lt headers, magnaflow catback, and bbk cai

yes, assuming the dealer can get into it. weve had some flashed PCMs that are junk and have to be replaced.

One would think that if the previous owner put a tune on it themselves, that they would give you the programmer with it. They may have had it tuned at a shop, in that case you need to have a dealer re-flash it. They may have chipped it. Did you see any evidence under the hood for that possibility? You may just have to remove the chip if it's there.

You're probably gonna have to take it to a Ford Service center to have the PCM re-flashed.

what do i do to look for a chip, pull the computer out and then what?? The whole reason for this is because he got a few lean codes and that worried me so i told him to get a tuner and now we ran into this problem.

Look in the pass side kick pannel, that's where the PCM is. Look and make sure there are no piggyback chips plugged in. It it looks clean then it's been flashed. If you get a dealer to flash it back to factory tune then the predator should work.

I think you will need to remove the computer to see if there is a chip installed. I do not remember being able to see the top of the computer with it in the car. It will have a black cover installed if there is no chip. very easy to do, just make sure to disconnect the battery to be safe.
