Problems

Hey yall,

Just wandering if anybody else has had clutch, tranny probs with 03 cobra? I have an 03 that I bought in Jan. that has sat in the shop for TWO months, once for a month right when I first got it for clutch release berring, and now for a month and a week for 1-2 Synchronizer. Both times it has been because the parts are back ordered.

Is there anything I can do? I called the complaint hotline and they appologized but that was it.. I can order the part myself from Tremic and have it tomorrow.. so why cant ford? I even offered to do that and pay for it myself but they told me that would void the warranty. So wtf? iv had a car for 4 months and its been in the shop half that time. That payment is still comming due every month.

Any suggestions? or sit and wait?

MODS:

Hurst short throw shifter
MAC catback exhaust
K&N
2.8 Blower pullie with diablo programmer
UPR Clutch adjuster kit

I take it you bought the car used? Not much you can really do about it except ****** at them. Maybe ask them to make one of your payments since they've had it for so long!

I guess you should feel lucky, I'm assuming they are fixing all this under warranty? You're lucky they didn't deny the tranny repairs based on your current mod list!

pretty sure your 2.8 and tune already voided the warranty so go ahead and order the parts yourself.

Nope. Did not void the warranty. The ford dealership even installed the parts for me.

Oh yeah and it was used. Had 10k miles on it. But apparently the old guy that had it before me couldnt drive a stick.. clutch was ruined. He was over 50, maybe he ragged it bad.. kinda doubt it, i think he just couldnt drive

They must keep it under warrenty unless they can prove that the modded part was directly the cause of the fauilt

Yes, yes we all know about the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act. I dare you to go to your service manager with a copy of the MMWA and demand they honor your warranty until they prove the mods contributed to the failure... ...if it were only that easy! You'll be screaming about the MMWA all the way to court....

Actually it would be pretty easy for Ford to come back and state the smaller (2.80) blower pulley voids the complete power train warranty because it increases engine horsepower output beyond what the factory intended.

He needs to count his blessings that his service department is cool about all his mods.

UM speaks the truth! A dealer that honors warranties with mod pulley is rare indeed these days. Get on a plane to Vegas or go buy some lottery tickest while your luck is still hot.
