Anyone have any experience with the magnetic trigger distributors by ProComp?

my engine builder woudnt even sell me one even though he stocks them.that might be a sign?????

jeff - I dont think thats the case, but I could be wrong. I'd do a lot of investigation into your parts selection.

Since you suggested I do a little research I have and all the claims so far say it's based in Austrailia. Now they may manufacture in China but it is an Aussie company.

they have always been made in china, some people have great luck with them some dont, I have one I havent run yet its an 8000 series and the internals look like a duraspark, if you run one have it recurved for your combo, stay away from the ignition boxes and ready to run dists except maybe the HEI ones, they have got a bit better in quality. Alot of MSD stuff is made in China now as well..........I'd recomend only the distributor and a good ign box.

And that's EXACTLY what was suggested before.

It doesn't matter where they company is based, they make their JUNK products in China.

They are a ripoff company and produce junk products. They reverse engineer a real companies design and sell them at a low price since they don't need to actually spend money on R&D. Stealing intellectual property is cheap.

Want good electronics? MSD and Mallory. There's a reason Daewoo's cost less than Honda's.

absolutly true but when someone holds a patent on a product they also control the price, I can buy diesel fuel here for 3 bucks a gallon but when I go to mexico i ts 2 bucks a gallon..........msd is making products in china and charging us the same price as when they made them here.........when do we stop paying for the R&D? Like a toll road someday it is paid for......unfortunatly some american companies rather than compete, maunfacture in China and make more profit and sell inferior products instead. Buy a new coil from MSD, it will say made in China on the bottom. Did the price go down? hell no! did the quality? hell yes! The more American companies that manufacture in China makes the quality of Chineese products go up..............Steve Saleen is going to be bringing the first Chineese cars to America.........its all about greed!

LOL, MSD made its living reverse engineering (copying) OEM designs for distributors. It isn't a new idea. If something is a quality piece, I really don't care where it is made. Unfortunately, most people equate China with cheap *****. Pro comp = pro compromise. Buy a quality ignition or else you will end up spending more cash trying to get it to work and needless time diagnosing it. trust me. you think buying a $85 dizzy is going to be the deal of a century, until you have to spend another $250 on a mallory or MSD dizzy to replace it.

Fine, I'll just stick with my Duraspark distributor and switch to the smaller cap/rotor as all I was looking for was a little clearance for my air cleaner. I don't race my car so I just don't see the need to spend $3-400 on a distributor.
