Projector Headlights.... worth it?

I've already got the crystal clear euro styles in my car now ( 6 piece ). I was thinking of putting these in my LX and buying some projectors for my GT. Are they worth the extra investment? Do they offer any better visibility?

Nah, stick with the clear ones you bought. Lighting will be the same unless you put some hids in the projectors, and that's even IF the projector houseing can support hids.

Plus I like the look of the clear ones the best.

I personaly would only get an HID kit if i decide to get smoked headlights, but for clear i wouldnt touch them.

Do me a favor Fordguy... I want that look sssooooo bad! So, if you could, go to ebay.com and search " mustang headlights "... narrow it to "1987-1993" ..... sort by highest price first. There should be two headlight kits on there first for like $290. Do you think I will gain the same results buying this "bolt in" kit? Will I have to go through the steps I've seen in the HID Tutorial, as far as the molding and the cutting... etc?

That is the exact same kit i have ... i love it and i got it off ebay from the same company .. no problems had it for a couple months.

at first i thought you were talking about the little projector type....like in a cougar or something. Those ones make the car look all bug-eyed.

Are the ones on fordguy's car technically projectors?

I would not recommend them to anybody.

First off, the are the wrong color temperature. Anything past 4400K is pointless as it shifts to the less visible blue spectrum.

Secondly, without a projector you are throwing out glare in all directions. It is very dangerious and inconsiderate to other drivers. I'm sorry fordguy87, but your pictures are a perfect example of what HID's are not supposed to look like.

Here is how the HID's are supposed to look...

Notice the cut-off line which has no light above it?

i've had numerous people i talked to that drove coming towards me with the lights on to see if they thought there was alot of glare and they said it wasn't even slightly bad they didn't see glare. So I'm not worrying about them seeing as i dont have the time or money to go through retrofitting hid's

so millhouse basically what you're saying is that that kit is worthless? Like, I have to buy a $300 projector headlight, $300 HID kit, and spend who knows how much $$$$ for supplies then teach myself to convert it over? Sound like I'm thinking screw oncoming traffic.... but I guess I don't know. I like the look of the pic you put up with the cut off , but I have to have a projector for that?

That setup can utilize both high and low beam hid's.

Keep in mind too that without a proper lens quite often the visible distance with the el-chepo hid setups is diminished. There may be more bright light...but without some way to focus it, it's just thrown out everywhere. Think of the wide angle setting on a maglite compared to the narrow angle.

One more tibit of info....police can and will give tickets out for the blue hid setups as it's a reserved emergency vehicle color.

I have what Ford guy has but non smoked and an Free HIDs from a G35. My HIDs are really white and arent bad at all. I wouldnt mind having projectors to have high and low beams but for now they do just fine. Oh btw, mine an forg guys headlights are better for HIDs b/c it has the cup in front of the bulb. My friend has the stock type ultra clears with 8000k HIDs and they are very very bright.
