PS pump removal..Belt Tensioner?

SO i'm ripping out the PS system in my 1968 coupe with 289. My question is, what do I need to replace this PS with to keep tension on the belt?

thanks in advance, V-belt, I have a pulley off of an old alternator if that helps.

I'm surely missing something here. Single v belt? You got a pic... During the brief period where I converted to manual, I just removed the belt and pump...

the loose belt is from my alternator..in the middle of doing the 3G install....do i need a belt rensioner if i remove the PS pump? i keep thinking, "just remove it, run one belt with the alternator as the "tensioner." but I just want to make sure.

You should be fine with just one belt as long as that one belt is turning the water pump and the alternator.

No problem. The PS pump IS the tensioner for its own belt. Removal doesn't affect anything else.

When I switched over to a 3G, I had to run a double v-groove setup. It only squealed on startup, but you know how that goes. Eventually it starts slipping more and more.

Yes, just dump the pump and live your life!

nice, thanks again for the responses...pops said the same thing, "back then, no cars had power steering." then he started talking about when he was a waiter and met frank sinatra...etc...
