If you start it up right away while the RTV is still wet, won't the oil seep through it again???

You should always let it dry first, that oil will come through even the smallest space.

Well, took the car back in this morning. The tech said that the crankshaft bolt I have is not a "torque to yield" type (it came with pulleys).

So, he took it out and re-installed it with new sealant around the bolt and the keyway. He took out the bolt and showed it to me. Didn't look to me like it had enough sealant the first time.

I ran it for awhile and checked for leaks, but didn't see any. I guess I'll just have to keep an eye on it.

find a new mechanic after this is settled. Yes! it is TTY we had one kid who had reused the bolt 4-5 times when it finally snapped in the crank whan he tried to pull the bolt out again, it was a ******!!!!!

Curious what do they charge for the pulley change out? What about the water pump? For all those interested I have a set of steeda U/P for sale. It is for the later 01 GT and up. It does not include the alternator problem pulley. Email me if interested - dbarr123@yahoo.com

When I did mine last year, I took it out for a drive about 1 1/2-2 hours after I was finished. No leaks or problems.

Had my car in at the dealer for a quick oil change and tire rotation today. Asked them to replace the crank pulley bolt. When they saw the U/D pulleys, they said they wouldn't do it unless I put the factory pulleys back on. Then they lectured me on how the pulleys (and my gears) are gonna mess up my car.

Really pissed me off!

FUNNY! ask them how 4.10's don't mess up a pickup truck, or a late 60's cars that came with them from the factory, Or why ford makes them at all.

also for the pullies, tell them tose come stock on saleens that are covered by a FACTORY WARRANTY!!!!!

we had this argument at a dealer i knew, about a shifter, they had a stage 1 in thier show room, i asked him to have a seat in the car with me, I asked, "is this car covered under warranty?" Oc course he said yes. Then, I popped off the benzel and he about ****. There was a tri-ax handle right there and i asked him if he needed somone to take the rubber boot off to show him it was the same shifter i had
