Pulling a 289

Where do I hook up the engine hoist chain to pull the 289 out of my 65 coupe?

I screw some bolts in the extra bolt holes at the front/back of the heads then run a chain on them across the engine.

Same here. I think they are 3/8 bolts. Been doing so much lately I can't remember where my head is. Don't leave too much slack in the chain, your car will raise a few inches when engine weight comes off.

or if you can wait a little while . .you can get an engine lift plate that bolts on to the intake manifold where the carb goes. you just put a hook on it and voila!

Ditto the carb-mounted engine plate. Don't worry if you've got an aluminum intake, either since it's more than strong enough to lift the flyweight 289.

someone mentioned the body raising when you lift the motor out..yes it will some..but then you can let some air out of your front tires if there is a problem.. probably will not need to do it but its a idea

I use the engine lift hooks bolted to the sides of the heads but any of the methods mentioned will work fine.
