purple royal or synthetic gearoil?

I would go down to the parts store and get some name brand petroleum in an effort to save $10/quart on oil you'll never have to change again anyway, but thats just me.

65SC, that is the reason I would use the synthetic. You dump it in and leave it for a while. The price difference from dino to name brand synthetic around here is about 5 bucks/qt.

Worth every penny if you ask me (which you didnt. ). To each his own.

i agree 100000%

i have been using synthetic in all my vehicles since 1992 or so.

when i change my engine oil after 4-5k miles it's still almost gold, and no where near the color of conv. oil after only 3000 miles., the mpg increase is just a bonus.

royal purple, and amsoil are the best imo....but i use mobil1 for my engine
royal purple is about $7 /QT mob8il 1 is $5 QT

Petey, where are you located? I have used that stuff and IMHO, it was a little thick. Now Redline 85-140 is very viscous and flows very well (better than dino 75-90) in cold temps. But the blend was a bit thicker IMHO.

If running a non-full-synthetic, I would run 75/85W-90. You should be able to get M1 full synthetic gear oil (parts stores here at least sell it).

If it is not real cold back there in NY right now, it might be alright. If you just had rear end work done, I would not want to run that thicker stuff though. It would be worthwhile to swap it in for 75/85W-90 IMHO and be on the safe side. Then choose a quality synthetic for the change in a couple weeks.

I use Redline and Friction modifier, and that is about all these days.
