Hello everyone. Car is a 2000 GT Vert. I think I've decided to make my very first mod a swap to 4.10s. My question is, can I do this myself or should I pay someone else? I've owned GM cars until now, and the work I have been able to do is pretty good stuff...simple stuff like brake pads, calipers and bleeding, carburetor rebuild, alternator, p/s pump replacement, shocks and struts, and the big project was replacing the "distributor" (can't remember what they actually call those things) on a 93 Z28. If I can do these sorts of things, can I change my own gears? If I shouldn't, or if it just isn't worth it, then how much is a good price to pay for the work? Thanks.

I say you let someone else do it.. I did LT headers with my dad and myself as my first mod, but I'm scare of messing up my rearend..

You should expect to pay around $200 average installation price..

The gears need to be schemed and you will need an install kit. I would take it to a shop. If you screw up it could cost you

its not actually that hard to do the install; it's setting the backlash just right with the shims, etc. that made me have an expert do it. didn't want to have to try and redo it cause of whine/noise problems.

btw, getting out those abs sensors is not much fun either. they get pretty rusted-in after awhile.
