OK heres my issue i took off my old TB no problem installed the new one no problem except one thing the sensor that attaches to the side with the two phillips screws.....took some grunt but i broke the torque on the first the second just stripped and i cannot get the bugger off, looks like im going to have to drill it out but i need to run and get a bit and a new screw is it Safe to drive with this sensor off? I started her up and no CHeck engine light so i dont know. What was ford thinging any way it shouldve been a hex bolt with that kinda torque or a combo. Also on the side while im working with my TB how would i tighten up the slack in the throttle cable?

That is the throttle position sensor and the car is undriveable without it installed and calibrated properly.

The screws that hold it on are know to be extremely tight. Do not feel bad that you had problems with them as many people do.

You must measure the TPS voltage and get it to about .98 volts, the closer to 1.0 volts the better. Do a search for the specific details of doing this.

The throttle cable slack is usually removed at the gas pedal end with a piece of bic pen or zip ties.

Also, you need to check the TPS after you install it for a wide open voltage near 1.0 volts. It is usually reported here that this is very difficult to achieve and requires drilling out the mounting holes of the TPS to get enough play in it to get it in the proper position to achieve close to 1.0 volts.

Full throttle voltage should be around 4.5volts give or take. Just make sure it's above 4.

If you have a dremel maybe you can give it a little slot. And use a flathead screwdriver to remove it. Good luck!

Ok I need to point out that it is a waste of time and your likley to cause damage trying to get The TPS to read .99 volts..

WHY do you need to do that when the spec from FORD is .53-1.27 volts at idle or with the key on engine off. All the PCM cares about is the TP mode and throttle angle rate. and that tiny difference of .99 -1.00 is nothing to the PCM it don't care. as long as your within this spec at idle and over 4.5 volts at wide open thottle and the voltage goes up smooth from idle to WOT then your fine.

we may need a TPS write up and sticky with a lot of cutting and pasting out of the ford powertrain manual.
