I don't post very often but my resent install problems with a pair of Pypes LT headers made me want to share for anyone thinking about getting some of these. I ordered a pair of the Pypes LT headers about 3 weeks ago and it took about 6 hours once we received them to get the car torn down to the engine sitting on blocks with the K-member out of the way. First I installed the Passenger side and all seemed to go well except for the normal PITA header bolts. Next up was the Driver side (Not so well)
Problem #1 the EGR tube was a full inch away from the EGR fitting on the header. I called the retailer and was instructed to call Pypes which I did. Pypes took a look at some pictures I sent and sent me out a new drivers side header. (6 days later and a new header) SAME PROBLEM. So extremely ticked off and armed with a torch, a block of wood and my foot the EGR tube was bent 1 inch into compliance. Phew all is now going to be all right.
Problem #2 The Steering shaft will not allign to the pump wihout rubbing. Thinking I would have to resort to the solution of problem #1 I figured to check the rest of the fittment before doing anything about this issue.
Problem #3 Both the driver side and passanger side collectors are resting on the floorboard angled up making it impossible to install the mid pipe
After calling the retailer back and sending a couple more pictures I ended up being the proud recipent of a pair of BBK LT Headers and shorty X-Pipe.....Which had ZERO Problems and were 10000X easier to install. Everything lined up as it should and the hardware provided was great. Moral of the story is trying to save money by going with the less expensive product is sometimes not the smart idea. You get what you pay for.
